Helllloooo flist! How about more house babble?
So I got a house inspection today. I really liked the guy, but man did he let the air out of my bubble :(
1) Yeah, we got some foundation issues. The foundation has definitely shifted. JOY.
2) We have some air conditioning issues, but it may just be a freon issue.
3) There's a couple of electrical no-nos, but they should be an easy fix.
4) Turns out one of the windows in the master bedroom won't open.
5) Not enough insulation in the attic.
6) Hail damage on the roof. O HAI living in The Colony, which is every passing storm's own personal buttboy. Yet I still want to live there. Go fig.
So hopefully my agent will call back tonight. I'd like to get a professional foundation engineer's opinion on the house's foundation issue, but dude, if one door won't close and the one across the hall won't stay open, there's definite sloping! I really wish the guy had been watering the foundation this summer, but I have no idea how many properties he has on hand right now. This is all really nerve-wracking. I need a hug. And a teddy bear.

Date: 2011-09-01 03:53 pm (UTC)I do have an appointment tomorrow with a foundation guy, so we'll see what he has to say. But foundation repair starts a snowball effect. Once that's fixed, you have to get someone out there to fix the windows and doors too. *throws up hands* The seller is going to have to come down on price before this is an option.
