So my mother calls me, practically in tears (and really, I think she had been crying) and woefully says, "Well, we don't have a truck anymore."

My heart almost stopped, 'cause I thought she meant someone had wrecked it. I mean, my dad's first truck caught on fire--which is why he refused to lend the second one to my sister.

"What happened?"

"He got rid of it. A man brought the new truck out and drove the one away."

*relieved release of breath goes here*

"Don't DO that!"

I can kind of understand her emotions, though. Dad's had that truck for 17 years. It was almost a member of the family--a faded, peeling, stinky member of the family. So yeah, sorta like a teenage sibling. ^_^ But alas, no more. Mom was all upset, 'cause she's sentimental like that, and I found out even my dad cried a little. Hee.

[EDIT] Also, we're talking about a 17-year-old FORD Truck here. So don't give me that snarky Found On Road Dead bull. =P

But now he's got a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with only a little over 24K miles on it--which ain't bad at all for a Toyota. I hear it's dark green. I'm sure Mom will steal it now. ^_^ And I'm also sure my sister won't be allowed within twenty feet of it. Heh. I wonder if it's stick? Otherwise I'm gonna be driving it come Thanksgiving weekend. Mmmm...new truck smell... [/inner Texan]
